The Parliament received requests from the Acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov to authorize criminal proceedings against six MPs. Bozhidar Bozhanov of Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) gave up his immunity himself, Parliament Chair Nataliya Kiselova said at the beginning of Parliament's Wednesday sitting.
She pointed out that requests had been received for permission to instigate criminal proceedings against Slavcho Krumov and Ivaylo Chorbov, Yordan Todorov and Nikola Dimitrov from Vazrazhdane. For Slavcho Krumov and Ivaylo Chorbov a detention permit has also been requested.
The requests to lift the immunities of the four MPs are based on proposals of the Sofia City Prosecution in connection with the escalation of tension during a protest organized by Vazrazhdane on February 22 in the capital.
Kiselova also said that there were requests for criminal prosecution against Kiril Petkov and Bozhidar Bozhanov from CC-DB.
In a letter dated March 4, Bozhidar Bozhanov said he gave his consent to the initiation of criminal proceedings against him under the relevant pre-trial proceedings, Kiselova further noted.
