Vladimir Zografski secured the best-ever finish for a Bulgarian ski jumper at World Championships, placing ninth on the normal hill in Trondheim. Norway's Marius Lindvik claimed his first world title, adding it to his Olympic gold from Beijing.
This result also matches Zografski's second-best performance of the season, having previously recorded an 8th and a 9th-place finish in the World Cup.
Entering the competition with the 19th-best qualification result, Zografski was 14th after his first jump of 99.5m, earning 119.2 points. A stunning second attempt of 105m brought his total to 244.3 points, securing 9th place. He finished just 3.8 points behind Slovenia's Anze Lanisek, a two-time world champion and six-time World Cup event winner. Meanwhile, season leader Daniel Tschofenig of Austria placed 21st.
Lindvik took the world title on the normal hill with a total of 265 points, following jumps of 108m and 104.5m. He edged out Germany's Andreas Wellinger (106.5/104.5m) by 2.3 points and Austria's Jan Hoerl (107/132.6m) by 9.2 points.
