The second medical helicopter passed flight tests in the presence of the Bulgarian commission, which is visiting the Leonardo S.p.A. base in the Italian city of Vergiate, the Ministry of Health said on Friday.
The commission includes four representatives of the Health Ministry and three representatives of the aviation operator Bulgaria Heli Med Service under the Ministry of Transport and Communications. The team must carry out the technical acceptance of the aircraft and its medical equipment and apparatus. After that, the flight to Bulgaria will be organized and carried out under suitable weather conditions by the end of February.
The second medical helicopter is expected to be delivered to Bulgaria between February 17 and 25. The third helicopter is likely to arrive in this country by the end of March, Transport and Communications Minister Grozdan Karadjov said on February 7. Once the second helicopter of the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service arrives, the first aircraft, which was delivered in February 2024, will be able to undergo its regular warranty service in Italy.
