site.btaBulgaria to Request Ad Hoc Convergence Reports for Eurozone Entry by End-February

In an address to Eurogroup members on Monday, Bulgarian Finance Minister Temenuzhka Petkova outlined Bulgaria's progress in preparing for eurozone membership, the Finance Ministry said in a press release.
Petkova stressed that Bulgaria's prudent fiscal policy has long justified its place in the eurozone and expressed confidence that the country will adopt the euro on January 1, 2026. She emphasized that preliminary assessments indicate Bulgaria is on track to meet all nominal convergence criteria.
In line with the 2024 decision of the National Assembly and under Article 140 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the EU, Bulgaria will submit an official request to the European Commission and the European Central Bank for the preparation of ad hoc Convergence Reports by the end of February 2025, Petkova added.
Eurogroup members reaffirmed their continued support for Bulgaria's ambition to adopt the euro, the Ministry’s press release further said.
