site.btaBulgaria's Defence Minister and Chief of Defence Discuss Continued Support for Ukraine with Italian Ambassador

Defence Minister Atanas Zapryanov and the Chief of Defence, Admiral Emil Eftimov, Monday met with Italian Ambassador Giuseppina Zarra. The diplomat has completed her four-year tour of duty in Bulgaria.

The discussion focused on continued support for Ukraine, the Alliance's Concept for Deterrence and Defence, Armed Forces modernization, and ways to enhance the traditionally good level of joint military exercises, training and education.

Zapryanov thanked Ambassador Zarra for her efforts for the development of bilateral security and defence relations and for her exceptional contribution to Italy's assumption of the role of framework nation for NATO's Multinational Battlegroup in Bulgaria. 

Italy assumed the role of framework nation in mid-October 2022.
