The wholesale price of most vegetables went down this week, while fruit prices increased, according to the latest data from the State Commission for Commodity Exchanges and Wholesale Markets.
The market index for wholesale food prices in Bulgaria rose by 0.88% to 2.281 points in the past week. Last week, the index stood at 2.261 points. The base level of 1 point was set in 2005.
Garlic was the only vegetable that appreciated in the past week, by 3.8% to BGN 6.27 per kg. The price of carrots dropped by 6.9% to BGN 1.19/kg. Tomatoes and onions depreciated by 4.9% to BGN 2.91/kg and BGN 1.21/kg, respectively. The price of lettuce went down by 4.2% to BGN 1.15/kg and that of cucumbers by 1.6% to BGN 3.27/kg. The price of potatoes dropped by 0.8% to BGN 1.30/kg. Cabbage depreciated by 0.3% to BGN 1.39/kg.
Apples and tangerines depreciated by 3.6% to BGN 1.66/kg per kilo and by 0.6% to BGN 2.53/kg, respectively. The biggest increase was recorded in the price of oranges, which went up by 4% to BGN 2.04/kg. Bananas appreciated by 3.1% to BGN 2.77/kg and grapefruits by 2.5% to BGN 2.59/kg. The price of lemons dropped by 1.4% to BGN 2.32/kg.
White brined cheese from cow's milk depreciated by 1.8% to BGN 11.40/kg, while yellow kashkaval cheese of the Vitosha type appreciated by 0.8% to BGN 17.90/kg. The price of yogurt (with a fat content of 3% and over) went up by 1.8% to BGN 1.35 for 400 grammes and so did that of fresh milk (with a fat content of 3%), by 0.1% to BGN 2.40 per litre. Butter from cow's milk appreciated by 0.2% to BGN 3.11 per 125 grammes.
The wholesale price of poultry rose by 0.7% to BGN 6.50/kg, while that of eggs (size M) dropped by 2.4% to BGN 0.32.
Rice depreciated by 2.2% to BGN 3.32/kg and so did beans, by 1.5% to BGN 4.33/kg. Lentils appreciated by 2.1% to BGN 4.46/kg. The price of sunflower oil increased by 2.1% to BGN 3.33 per litre, while that of flour (type 500) dropped by 2.1% to BGN 1.47/kg. Sugar depreciated by 2.8% to BGN 1.85/kg.
