The 2025 edition of the Women in Tech programme was officially launched here on Monday. More than 500 women received basic digital skills training during the 2024 edition.

The programme is conducted in partnership between the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, the University of Telecommunications and Posts, and Huawei Technologies Bulgaria.

Among the guests of Monday's launch were Vice President Iliana Iotova, who is an ambassador of the initiative, and National Assembly Chair Nataliya Kiselova, who this year will be socially committed ambassador of Women in Tech.

Welcoming the participants, Iotova said, as quoted by the head of State's press secretariat: "Success, confidence, inspiration - these three words best describe the Women in Tech initiative. Good luck to the organizers and participants. Let the participants be confident that with diligence, ambition and perseverance, they can develop. From them many other women will draw inspiration and have the self-confidence of people who are constantly working on themselves, know and can." Iotova highlighted the paradox that exists in Bulgaria: compared to the EU average, the share of women specialists in the field of information and communication technologies is high, but at the same time basic and more developed digital skills are almost 20% lower than the average for the Union. "Partners in the Women in Tech programme are working to close this gap and are making great strides. The results inspire us to move forward together," said the Vice President.

The National Assembly Chair congratulated those who completed the previous edition of the programme and wished good luck to the new participants. She encouraged them to be tenacious and develop their skills and talents.
