The State Agency for Child Protection carried out 243 inspections for compliance with children's rights in 2024. Of those, 84 were conducted after an alter was submitted, 124 were planned, and 33 were to follow up the implementation of mandatory instructions, the Agency reported on Monday.

The alerts leading to inspections by Child Protection Departments most often concern the handling of cases of parental conflicts involving children.

Most alert checks were in educational institutions, with 54 of them concerning the child's right to protection against violence. Some of the violations identified were failure to carry out checks by principals in relation to reports of physical and psychological abuse of a pupil. In some of the inspected schools it was established that discussions, talks and lectures on violence and bullying were not held with pupils. In some cases, no action had been taken by the school staff to include pupils with special educational needs.

Planned inspections in educational institutions aimed to examine the effectiveness of the work in schools and kindergartens on the prevention of violence against children, work with children and students with problematic behaviour, as well as in crisis situations.

The inspections resulted in 182 mandatory prescriptions were issued with 954 specific measures to be implemented to remedy the violations identified.
