The Industrial Production Index decreased by 1.6% in December 2024 compared to the previous month, show National Statistical Institute data published on Monday. Compared to December 2023, a decrease of 3.9% was registered in the calendar adjusted Industrial Production Index.
Monthly Changes
In December 2024, compared to the previous month, a 7.4% decrease was reported in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, as well as 1.6% in the manufacturing, while an 21.4% increase was registered in the mining and quarrying industry.
More significant decline in the manufacturing was reported in the manufacture of basic metals - by 19.8%, in the manufacture of wearing apparel - by 15.4%, and in the manufacture of paper and paper products - by 9.2%.
Growth was observed in the manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products - by 16.9%, in the manufacture of tobacco products - by 12.3%, in other manufacturing - by 9.7%, and in the manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations - by 9.2%.
Annual Changes
On an annual basis, a decrease of the Industrial Production Index was observed in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (28.8%), and in the manufacturing (1.2%), while an increase was registered in the mining and quarrying industry - by 8.0%.
The most significant production decline in the manufacturing, compared to the same month of the previous year, was reported in the manufacture of basic metals (36.2%), in the
manufacture of wearing apparel (23.0%), and in the manufacture of leather and related products (20.8%).
A rise was observed in the manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations (29.4%), in the manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment (by 21.3%), and in the manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products (17.9%).
