The report for the second reading of the amendments to the Election Code may be ready in the second half of March, said Committee on Constitutional and Legal Affairs Chair Anna Aleksandrova on Monday at a round table organized by the Institute for Development of the Public Environment, in connection with the amendments to the election legislation.
"The deadline for proposals between the first and second reading of the amendments to the Election Code expires on February 14, after which and after discussion with the coalition council [the Joint Governance Council] I think it is right to make a working group to clean up the texts and see how many proposals have been received, because I think there will be a lot," said Aleksandrova. "The deadline is February 14, after which, if we form a working group, I hope that within a month we can be ready with the report," she added. Aleksandrova explained that the amendments would then go to the relevant parliamentary committee and the plenary for discussion.
Representatives of various parliamentary groups, institutions and civil society took part in the roundtable. The forum was opened by the National Assembly Chair Nataliya Kiselova.
