Romanian band Subcarpați will perform in Sofia nearly a year after its last visit. The concert is set for February 7 at Mixtape 5, organizers from the venue announced on Saturday.

Described by The Guardian as "an explosive mix of old and new, blending Romanian folk with trip-hop, dubstep, hip-hop, and dancehall," Subcarpați has gained a strong following, with seven albums and millions of views online. Their recent concert in Bucharest drew 60,000 people, making club performances increasingly rare, organizers noted.

The band will arrive with its full 11-member lineup and technical team.

"We highlight the importance of our roots without turning it into a sentimental speech," said founder Bean MC (Alex Marius Andrei).

Bulgarian musician Nikola Gruev-Kottarashky, known for his work on Theodore Ushev’s Blind Vaysha, will once again open for Subcarpați, joined by multi-instrumentalist Sando Sandov (accordion, trumpet). The duo will reinterpret Kottarashky’s music in a club and trance improvisational style.
