There is no risk of changes to the status of the National Revenue Agency (NRA) and the Customs Agency, nor any planned staff reductions at this stage, Finance Minister Temenuzhka Petkova said here on Thursday.
Petkova was speaking during a parliamentary hearing concerning the state of public finances, in response to a question from Vazrazhdane about the idea of merging the two agencies.
"They will operate as they should," Petkova said, adding that no staff reductions are planned for the two administrations.
"The NRA and the Customs Agency are the backbone of the stability of Bulgaria's public finances," Petkova said. She noted that revenue agencies need stability, resilience, and a steady operational environment to perform their duties effectively, especially given the current situation, which she described as a major challenge requiring these administrations to operate at their best.
"We are currently analyzing and studying experiences from other countries, and we are carefully assessing the risks of making structural changes at this time," Petkova added.
