The crew of the Sv. Sv. Kiril i Metodii research vessel (RSV 421) carried out a survey of Ereby Point, which is located in the Southern Bay of Livingston Island, not far from the Bulgarian Antarctic base.

The exploratory voyage to Ereby Point was carried out in a Zodiac boat. The group was led by Commander Radko Muevski. He and four other members of the crew inspected the coast and the shoreline. Maintenance works were carried out on board the vessel, which will spend the night in Emona Bay, in front of the Bulgarian base.

Scientists from the Bulgarian Antarctic base worked at different field locations. Seismologist Gergana Georgieva and nuclear physicist Vasil Gurev studied the Balkan Snowfield.

Physicist Tsvetan Parov and geologist Yordanka Donkova worked on the Contell Glacier. They were transported in a Zodiac boat to Johnsons Dock cove and then continued on foot to the glacier.

Geomorphologist Daniela Pascal took field samples from the high areas around the base.

Electronics engineer Peter Sapundzhiev worked on Mirador Hill. Boyan Michev from the Institute of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Research at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS), biologist Alfredo Benitez and the Swedish Erika Borgeson visited the Spanish base "Juan Carlos I", there and back they were transported by boat "Zodiac".

The Bulgarian naval research vessel Sv. Sv. Kiril i Metodii (RSV 421) departed from Varna on its third Antarctic expedition on November 7, 2024, and arrived at Livingston Island on December 28. The St Kliment Ohridski Bulgarian Antarctic Base on Livingston Island opened for the new polar season on November 23, 2024.

BTA has a national press club on the vessel and at the Bulgarian Antarctic base. This is the third year in a row that BTA has sent a correspondent to Antarctica. This year's correspondent is Milena Ostrovska, who arrived at the base on January 17. Her reports are available for free in English at the Bulgaria-Antarctica Log on BTA's website and can be used for free by all media with attribution to BTA.
