In a response to a declaration by Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) accusing GERB of having compromised Bulgaria's goal to enter the eurozone, GERB-UDF MP Delian Dobrev alleged in Parliament here on Friday that it was in fact CC-DB Co-Chair Assen Vassilev and his "disastrous budgets" from the time when he was finance minister that harmed Bulgaria, moving it father away from the eurozone.

Dobrev said: "For three years, this plenary has been under hypnosis. You were hypnotized by an unbalanced finance minister [...]. For three years you have been voting in favour of his disastrous budgets." The MP criticized CC-DB for boosting inflation as high as 33% and for no longer being a real right-wing political formation.

The GERB-UDF MP said that there is a BGN 18 billion gap in the budget and added: "With an 18 billion gap in the budget, between 8% and 9% of the GDP, no one would let you in the eurozone." He concluded: "The good news is that the whole country has realized that there is a huge deficit in the budget. The good news is that we have all realized that we have to take measures, because otherwise, we will join the eurozone when Hell freezes over."
