site.btaParliament to Probe 10-Year Ban on PFC Botev Owner Zingarevich
Members of parliament are set to hear from Chair of the State Agency for National Security Plamen Tonchev and State Intelligence Agency Chair Antoan Gechev on the restrictions imposed on Anton Zingarevich, owner of Professional Football Club (PFC) Botev (Plovdiv), the National Assembly published on its website here on Friday.
The National Assembly schedule has been updated to include the hearing and to exclude Question Time, which was originally on the agenda.
The request for the hearing on the restrictions against Zingarevich was submitted by MPs from BSP – United Left, There Is Such a People (TISP), Vazrazhdane, and Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB).
Russian businessman Zingarevich has been banned from entering Bulgaria for 10 years, which PFC Botev (Plovdiv) announced in an official statement.
PFC Botev (Plovdiv) also announced at the end of December 2024 that the club's management met with MPs from various political parties to discuss the restrictions on the club's benefactor, Zingarevich, and to identify the reasons behind these measures. Representatives from CC-DB, BSP – United Left, TISP, and Vazrazhdane attended the meeting.
"At the time, the MPs pledged to collaborate in finding a solution to clarify the situation with the club's majority owner," the announcement by PFC Botev (Plovdiv) concluded.
