Caretaker Interior Minister Atanas Ilkov said that he has not yet received an invitation to be part of the regular government cabinet. Ilkov was speaking to Bulgarian journalists here on Tuesday after a meeting with the Interior Minister of Turkiye Ali Yerlikaya and with the Greek Migration Minister Nikolaos Panagiotopoulos. The meeting took place at the Dolmabahce Palace in Istanbul.

When asked if he would stay in the regular cabinet if invited, Ilkov replied: “I will tell you that once I receive the invitation. Until my last day as minister, I will work at full capacity. When the time comes for such a decision, I will inform you first."

The caretaker Interior Minister added that if he receives an invitation to join the regular government and is supported by a political party, he would stay at the position.

On Wednesday, the head of State will hand an exploratory mandate for the formation of a regular government to GERB-UDF as the largest parliamentary group in the 51st National Assembly.
