In November 2024, the unemployment rate in Bulgaria was 3.9%, down by 0.1% compared to October and by 0.5% compared to November 2023, Eurostat said on its website on Tuesday. The EU unemployment rate was 5.9% and the euro area unemployment stood at 6.3%, both stable compared with October 2024.

In November 2024, there were 117,000 unemployed in Bulgaria, compared to 120,000 in October and 134,000 in November 2023.

Eurostat estimates that 12.968 million persons in the EU, of whom 10.819 million in the euro area, were unemployed in November 2024. Compared with October 2024, unemployment decreased by 16,000 in the EU and by 39,000 in the euro area. Compared with November 2023, unemployment decreased by 295,000 in the EU and by 333,000 in the euro area.

The Czech Republic (2.8%) had the lowest unemployment rate among EU countries in November 2024, followed by Poland and Malta (both 3%) and Germany (3.4%).

Unemployment remained highest in Spain (11.2%), followed by Greece (9.6%) and Finland (8.7%).

In November 2024, youth unemployment in Bulgaria (young persons under 25) was at 12.1% (about 13,000 persons), with seasonal factors taken into account, at the same level compared to last October. 

Bulgaria's youth unemployment rate is down from November 2023, when it was 13.6, Eurostat data show.

In November 2024, 3.013 million young persons were unemployed in the EU, of whom 2.423 million were in the euro area. In November 2024, the youth unemployment rate was 15.3% in the EU, up from 15.2% in October 2024, and 15.0% in the euro area, stable compared with the previous month.

In November 2024, the unemployment rate for women was 6.1% in the EU, stable compared with the previous month, and the unemployment rate for men was 5.7%, also stable compared with October 2024. In the euro area, the unemployment rate for women was 6.5% and the unemployment rate for men was 6.1%, both stable compared with October 2024.
