site.btaCustoms Seize BGN 1 Mln Worth of Cocaine

Customs officers at the Kapitan Andreevo border crossing point found and seized 5.710 kilograms of cocaine worth BGN 1,027,800, the Customs Agency said on Thursday.

The drugs were found during an inspection of an outbound car with Turkish plates, travelling from the Netherlands to Turkiye through Bulgaria. The cocaine was hidden in the rim of the spare tire of the car.

The drugs were detected during a joint anti-smuggling operation of the Customs Agency, the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime, the Border Police General Directorate, and the National Revenue Agency.

Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated under the supervision of the Haskovo Regional Prosecution Office.
