site.btaInterior Minister to Take Part in Justice and Home Affairs Council Meeting in Brussels

Caretaker Minister of Interior Atanas Ilkov will take part in the regular meeting of the Justice and Home Affairs Council (JHA) in Brussels on Thursday, the Interior Ministry reported here on Wednesday. The first item on the agenda will be the adoption of the JHA decision on setting the date for the abolition of checks on people at the internal land borders with Bulgaria and between Bulgaria and Romania.

As of March 31, 2024, both countries have been fully applying the Schengen acquis. Controls at the internal air and sea borders with Bulgaria and Romania were also abolished then.
