Hungarian direct investment in the Bulgarian economy since 1996 totals EUR 2.38 billion. Annual investment exceeded EUR 300 million in 2023 compared with EUR 45.9 million in 2019, InvestBulgaria Agency (IBA) Secretary General Julian Balchev said during a Bulgarian-Hungarian Business Forum in Budapest on Friday. The event was organized by the Commercial and Economic Section of the Bulgarian Embassy in Budapest.

Balchev said Hungarian investors have positive expectations about further expansion in Bulgaria. “We hope the pace will be kept up in the coming years,” he added.

He presented the services and the incentives which the IBA provides, the sectors to which Bulgaria attaches priority importance, and the country’s advantages as an investment destination.
