Bulgaria was awarded for the best stand at the International Travel and Tourism Fair (ITTF) in Warsaw, which took place from November 21 to 23 in the Polish capital. The country won in competition among nearly 30 other countries participating in the fair, the Tourism Ministry said.

At the opening event, Deputy Minister of Tourism Irina Georgieva, who received the award, highlighted the advantages that Bulgaria has to offer on the Polish market. "The cultural heritage, our beautiful nature, mineral springs, and delicious food are just some of the reasons why we have nearly 400,000 tourists from Poland this year," Georgieva said.

She emphasized the potential for further development of tourism relations between the two countries, noting that Bulgaria expects to work closely with Poland in support of the tourism sector during Poland's upcoming presidency of the EU Council starting in early 2025. "This is an opportunity to develop new projects, initiatives, and policies at the European level, of which we should take full advantage," Georgieva added.

The fair also hosted the fourth working session of tourism experts from Bulgaria and Poland, where Piotr Borys, Secretary of State at the Polish Ministry of Sport and Tourism, said that the closer bilateral cooperation in tourism sector is crucial for the development of tourism between the two countries.
