Bulgaria took second place in the medal ranking of the completed third edition of the Open Taekwon-Do Balkan Cup in Sofia. Nearly 800 competitors from 15 countries took part in the tournament organized by the Central Police Taekwondo Sports Club.

In first place in the general classification was Romania with 45 gold, 34 silver and 44 bronze medals. The Bulgarian representatives won 28 gold, 49 silver and 84 bronze medals. In third place was Bosnia and Herzegovina with 13 gold, 12 silver and 18 bronze medals.

The Open Taekwon-Do Balkan Cup is an initiative by Bulgaria, Romania, Slovenia and Greece, which was realized thanks to the strong support of the other participating countries, said the organizers. The tournament has positioned the Balkan Cup as a key sporting event in Eastern Europe and in particular on the Balkan Peninsula, providing a platform for growth and achievements, they added.
