Bulgaria’s Foreign Minister Ivan Kondov here on Wednesday conferred with Lyupcho Georgievski, head of the Bulgarian Cultural Centre in Bitola that had been shut down by authorities in the Republic of North Macedonia, Kondov's Ministry said in a press release.

The pair discussed the current situation regarding the rights of the Bulgarian community in North Macedonia.

Kondov reaffirmed his Ministry’s commitment to supporting Bulgarians in North Macedonia. It was underlined that the authorities in Skopje should honour the European agreements on including Bulgarians in North Macedonia’s Constitution, as this would pave the way for the country’s EU accession.

Georgievski thanked the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry for its continued commitment to addressing the problems of Bulgarians in North Macedonia.
