site.btaPolice Bust Laboratory for Growing Marijuana in Elhovo Village

Police officers discovered a laboratory for growing marijuana in the village of Elhovo in Stara Zagora Region, said the Regional Directorate of the Interior Ministry in Stara Zagora on Wednesday. 

About two kilograms of herbaceous mass with characteristics of marijuana was seized and two men aged 47 and 50 were detained for up to 24 hours 

During the investigative actions in the house of the 50-year-old man in the village of Elhovo, a laboratory for growing marijuana, consisting of separate rooms designed for growing seedlings, growing large plants and drying, was found as well. The premises are equipped with special lighting, filters, an automated system for maintaining temperature and humidity. A device for processing the finished product was found, as well as plant fertilizers and a watering system.

On the premises, 50 pots with seedlings about five centimetres high were found, and packaged envelopes containing a green grassy mass with characteristics of marijuana with a total weight of about a kilogram were seized. 

A vacuum bag with a brownish substance weighing about 100 grams was also found, which the 50-year-old man said was hashish.

Pre-trial proceedings have been launched, and the work on the case continues under the supervision of the Stara Zagora District Prosecution Office.
