At a meeting with Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) on Tuesday,  the Alliance for Rights and Freedoms (ARF) insisted that the coalition's declaration about creating a  "cordon sanitaire" (sanitary cordon) around Delyan Peevski and his MRF-New Beginning be implemented, as well on the first matter on Parliament's agenda after the vote on 51st National Assembly Chair to be the adoption of anti-corruption legislation.

During the meeting on Tuesday,  ARF's Dzhevdet Chakarov praised the proposals made, especially the one for a "cordon sanitaire".

CC-DB Co-Chair Kiril Petkov handed the text of the declaration to the ARF representatives, and Chakarov stated that they would support it. Regarding a legislative programme, Chakarov pointed out that it is good to limit it to a three-month period. ARF also demanded the resignation of the chair of the Anti-Corruption Commission.

ARF proposed the creation of a ad-hoc parliamentary committee to investigate all facts and circumstances related to Delyan Peevski and the bankruptcy of Corporate Commercial Bank and Bulgarian Development Bank. On the occasion of a report submitted to the National Assembly by the BOEC civic movement on the same topic, Valentin Tonchev pointed out that it is a suitable starting point for the establishment of such a committee.

Tonchev noted that CC-DB's declaration needs to  be implemented in order to ensure that the current Supreme Judicial Council which has "zero percent public trust" will not choose the only nominated candidate for prosecutor general, as well as president of the Supreme Administrative Court.

"It is very important for us not to be lumped along with those who separated from the authentic MRF (Movement for Rights and Freedoms). We remain a liberal-democratic party with clearly expressed values," Valentin Tonchev also said.
