On Tuesday morning, the Bulgarian naval research vessel Sv. Sv. Kiril i Metodii (RSV 421) passed the Strait of Messina, which separates Sicily and Southern Italy. It connects the Tyrrhenian Sea to the north with the Ionian Sea to the south, the Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy said on Facebook.
RSV 421 continues on its journey to Antarctica as part of the 33rd Bulgarian Antarctic Expedition and its next stop is the Spanish port city of Cartagena, which it is expected to reach at the end of this week.
