Modern education should develop students' critical and creative thinking, creativity and skills, said Minister of Education and Science Prof. Galin Tsokov during the conference Skills for Innovation in Education on Friday.

According to Tsokov, Education 5.0 developed after the pandemic as a response to technological change. "This meeting will give us answers to what extent our education has developed along the main lines of Education 5.0 - artificial intelligence, social and emotional learning, personalizing learning, assessment, transforming learning so that it is connected to practice and experience. Learning to happen through experience, creativity and innovation," he added.

In his words, the modern world must also develop the resilience of children or what science calls resilience - the flexibility of their minds, working on the personal development of today's youth. According to him, that is why a leading task in education is to focus on the adaptability and preparation of children for the new times.

The forum brings together over 600 education professionals - principals, teachers, innovators and experts. Information on students' social and emotional skills for a better life as well as policies for a safe environment and positive climate in educational institutions will be presented. The main focus will be on technology, digitalization and innovation in education. Topics related to the development of artificial intelligence, space science in classrooms, hands-on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) learning and innovation will also be addressed.

Tsokov also took part in the subsequent discussion 35 years of educational transition, which was attended by former Ministers of Education - Krassimir Valchev, Nikolay Denkov and Daniel Valchev.
