The 11th edition of the International Scientific Conference on Agrarian Economics was opened in Sofia on Tuesday. The two-day event is dedicated to sustainable agriculture and development of rural areas in the context of climate change.
The 2024 edition of the conference focuses on agricultural production and market perspectives, management practices in agricultural and rural development, and sustainable agriculture practices for rural communities in the context of climate change.
Addressing the event, Prof Violeta Bozhanova, President of the Agriculture Academy, said that there are tools to deal with climate change, some of them are technological, others are organizational, and some are financial (insurance-related). The question is which of these, or a combination of them, would be most effective for sustainable development.
In Bozhanova's words, it is important to create models to educate society about what sustainability means and to associate the sustainable natural patterns that exist and are always in balance, and the extent to which human social practices approach them.
