In the early hours of October 29, Sofia’s Regional Directorate of the Interior (SRDI) officers busted a modern drug den in the Sofia Simeonovo neighborhood, the SRDI Director Chief Commissioner Lyubomir Nikolov said at a media briefing.
The detainees were between the ages of 38 and 46, unknown to the police so far.
Nikolov said that a total of 275 plants were found in the greenhouse. One plant yields about a kilogram of dried mass, taking about three months. Given this, it is possible that the drug has already appeared on the market, he pointed out.
The greenhouse was busted after about 40 days of surveillance of a group of persons who took care of the plants. After growing and drying the inflorescences, they distributed them on the territory of Sofia and the country, said Nikolov.
He added that the operation will continue throughout the week, monitoring more premises for the production of marijuana and synthetic drugs.
On Monday evening, during a police operation, a high-tech drug greenhouse was busted in the area of the Dragalevtsi neighborhood. There were two detainees, aged 31 and 32, with criminal records. The greenhouse was located in a three-story house. According to preliminary data from the inspection, about 1.5 kg of leaf mass was found.
