At the opening of the conference part of the first regional forum and startup competition South East European Innovators Challenge (SEEIC) in Sofia Tech Park on Monday, Deputy Minister of Innovation and Growth George Angelov said that Sofia Tech Park is an active innovation hub for both Bulgaria and Southeast Europe. BTA is a media partner of the event.
"Today, we are witnessing the fact that the importance of innovation is recognized at a high political level," added Angelov, supporting his words with the importance that innovations and cooperation in the field occupied in the so-called Draghi Report on the future of European competitiveness, as well as with the recently published paper by Manuel Etter emphasizing the importance of R&D and programmes such as Horizon Europe.
Angelov defined the importance of the event as high, with the aim of establishing it as a regular forum for the interaction of the regional science and technology parks in Southeast Europe.
Members of the regional association are Sofia Tech Park, Gabrovo Tech Park, JOIST Innovation Park (Greece), Thessaloniki Innovation And Technology Center (Greece), Magurele Science Park (Romania), Technology park Novi Sad (Serbia), Science Technology Park Nis (Serbia), Ostim Teknopark (Turkiye), Antalya OIZ Technopark (Turkiye), Bursa Technopark (Turkiye), BUDOTEK Teknopark (Turkiye), Namik Kemal University Technology Development Zone (Turkiye), Science and Technology Park Montenegro (Montenegro)..The purpose of the alliance is to stimulate the development of cooperation between scientific and innovation ecosystems in South-Eastern Europe and to support the development of innovation and technology in the region.
