Duo Ranas from Argentina will perform in Sofia for the 20th World Tango Day. The concert will take place at 5 Oborishte Street on November 9, the organizers said.
Pianist Pablo Schiaffino and bandoneon player Leandro Schnaider will present some of the most iconic works of the legendary Astor Piazzolla, classic tangos and original compositions that will transport the audience to the heart of Buenos Aires. Among them will be Libertango, Oblivion, Adios Nonino, La Cumparsita and others, presented through a dialogue between the most important instruments in tango - the bandoneon and the piano.
The duo has performed hundreds of times across Europe, Asia and Latin America over 30 international tours.
Schnaider is a graduate of the Manuel de Falla Conservatory in Buenos Aires and a student of prominent bandoneon players Gabriel Merlino and Carlos Lazzari. Former member of the tango formations Daniel Melingo Quartet and El Afronte Orquesta.
Schiaffino is a graduate of the Beethoven Conservatory. Former musical director of the Don Atilio Tango Sextet.
Schnaider and Schiaffino began performing together in 2005 at the legendary Café Tortoni, in Buenos Aires. Duo Ranas was officially formed in 2007. After 19 years of working together and four albums released, they have established themselves among the leading performers on the music scene in the tango capital of Buenos Aires.
