Bulgaria's Ambassador to Japan Marieta Arabadjieva welcomed Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) President Julian Revalski at the Embassy in Tokyo on October 4, the team of the Bulgarian diplomatic mission in Japan said on Facebook on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the development of Bulgarian studies in Japan, which is supported by BAS, was discussed and it was noted that the interest in studying Bulgarian language and culture is growing. It was underlined that in the current Japanese academic year Bulgarian and Old Bulgarian teaching was also introduced at Kyoto University, which brings the number of universities with Bulgarian studies in Japan to six.

Arabadjieva and Revalski also discussed the possibilities for cooperation between the Embassy and BAS for the development of the relations between Bulgaria and Japan in the scientific sphere, including BAS support for the holding of a Bulgarian-Japanese symposium in the field of information and communication technologies on January 31, 2025 in Japan.

The team of the Bulgarian diplomatic mission in Tokyo added that Revalski was visiting Japan in connection with participation in the annual Science and Technology in Society Forum (STS-Forum), which took place on October 6-8 in Kyoto.
