Conferring in Novi Sad, Serbia, on Monday, presidents of Balkan shooting sports’ federations, including Bulgarian Shooting Union (BSU) President Vesela Letcheva, agreed to revive the Balkan shooting championships. The meeting was attended by members of the European Shooting Confederation led by its President, Alexander Ratner.

Shooting federations’ heads of Serbia, the Republic of North Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Moldova and Bulgaria outlined specific tasks for action and signed a cooperation protocol. Their efforts will also be joined by Greece and Turkiye.

Letcheva explained that all attendees embraced her proposal that all Balkan countries should share their ideas on the format of the tournament by end-2024, including the age range of competitors, number of participants, who will host the championships, what will the budget be, among other important details.

According to the BSU President, the revival of such regional tournament will enable Balkan athletes to have an even more intense schedule on their sports calendars, as well as the federations to develop their organizational capabilities.
