Fraport Airport Operator Reports Passenger Decrease in Varna, Burgas

The number of passengers at the airports in Varna and Burgas decreased by 3.2% in September 2024 compared to the same month in 2023, said the German airport operator Fraport on Monday.

The operator noted that 198,290 passengers passed through Varna Airport in September - a decrease of 1.2% on an annual basis. Burgas Airport reported 272,352 passengers for the same month, which marked a decrease of 3.2%.

Fraport also pointed out that in the first three quarters of the year an 8.6% drop was recorded in the number of passengers served at both airports, down to 3.05 million people.

Besides the two Bulgarian airports, Fraport also manages the Frankfurt Airport in Germany, where 4.9% more passengers were served during the first three quarters of 2024 year on year, states DPA.
