The Judges Chamber of the Supreme Judicial Council adopted Tuesday a schedule for the procedure for election of a new President of the Supreme Administrative Court and there the election itself is set for March 20. The proposed schedule is yet to be approved by the Supreme Judicial Council plenum (which also includes the Prosecutors Chamber).

The procedure will kick off on October 17. Candidates for the post can be nominated at four consecutive meetings of the Supreme Judicial Council.

The term of the current Supreme Administrative Court President, Georgi Cholakov, expired at the end of November.

The President of the Supreme Administrative Court is one of the so called "big three" in the Bulgarian judiciary, along with the Prosecutor General and the President of the Supreme Court of Cassation.
