Extraordinary state policies are needed in the coal mining and energy sectors, said Blue Bulgaria top-of-the-list candidate in Haskovo Tsveta Kirilova in a statement on Monday.

Kirilova stated that the European Green Deal is inevitable, but noted that at the same time it is very likely that Bulgaria will lose funds under the Recovery and Sustainability Plan worth BGN 5.6 billion, because the last National Assembly did not vote on two decisions concerning the gradual closure of coal plants until 2025 and thermal power plants until 2038.

"Bulgarian institutions are increasingly operated by a lack of transparency, they conserve information and ignore our right to access public information on the subject, they neglect public needs and complaints," Kirilova said.

She noted that extraordinary policies are also needed to stabilize the employment problems in the regions with a predominant labor force in heavy and strategic industries. This would require regional support and investment policies, as well as decentralization of the economy in the big cities.
