The Council of Ministers approved a decision to sign a security cooperation agreement between Bulgaria and Ukraine and to join the Ukraine Compact presented at this year's NATO Summit in Washington, the Government press service said here on Wednesday.

The Ukraine Compact was approved at a special event after the NATO Summit in July. At that time, 23 NATO member states joined, having already signed bilateral security agreements with Ukraine. The initiative aims to offer political support to Ukraine and to coordinate and speed up efforts to provide security assistance to Ukraine.

Bulgaria provides Ukraine with political and practical support. By standing against Russian aggression, Ukraine helps protect the freedom, security, and sovereignty of all European member states. Following this policy and aiming to join the Ukraine Compact, Bulgaria will sign a security agreement with Ukraine. This agreement will outline specific bilateral arrangements between the two countries.

By signing the agreement and joining the Ukraine Compact, Bulgaria will demonstrate its ongoing support for Ukraine's resistance against Russian aggression. This also shows Bulgaria's dedication to be actively involved in international efforts providing short and long-term support to Ukraine.
