More than half (52%) of Bulgarians have donated at least once in the past year, show data from the latest annual donation analysis conducted by the Bulgarian Donor's Forum (BDF), reported the organization. A total of 66% directly helped people in need, 39% joined a campaign organized by a company, 19% supported a civil organization, and 12% donated to  a municipality or institution.

On the occasion of the European Day of Foundations and Donors, October 1, the BDF stated in a message that anyone can be a donor, regardless of the amount and type of help they can provide, whether through financial means or through work, time, through material assistance, expertise, donating knowledge, skills, blood or anything else that can help a person in need or another significant cause.

The theme of the European Day of Foundations and Donors this year is: "Building Trust, Connecting Communities". The BDF's analysis also explores a specific example of citizens' support, with the data showing that 23% of Bulgarian adults have in some way supported the flood victims in Karlovo. This once again proves that citizens unite spontaneously and when a group of people have suffered seriously from a natural disaster or a crisis situation, and exhibit great solidarity and generosity, noted the BDF.

In 2024, the BDF celebrated 20 years since its establishment. The BDF information campaign is mottoed: "Donation makes people and the world better. Thank you for being a part of it."
