The conditions for tourism in the mountains are poor on Monday, said the Mountain Rescue Service (MRS) to the Bulgarian Red Cross. The weather will be cloudy and foggy in many areas, with a gale-force wind in the Balkan. Temperatures in the mountains are down to -1C and -2C in the areas above 2,000 m. There is a snow cover with a thickness of about 1-2 cm.
Two incidents involving tourists occurred in the mountains in the last 24 hours, said the MRS. The forst incident involved a woman who got lost in the eastern part of the Rhodopes. She was found in good condition. The second incident involved a man with a sprained ankle under Mount Botev.
The weather on Monday will be mostly cloudy, windy and rainy, with snow above 1,900m, and a strong northwesterly wind, said the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology. The highs will be 8C at 1,200 m, 3C at 2,000m.
