site.btaCabinet Adopts 2024-2026 Programme for Prevention, Protection from Domestic Violence
The Council of Ministers adopted the 2024-2026 National Programme for Prevention and Protection from Domestic Violence, the Government press service reported here on Friday.
The programme provides for training of judicial authorities, Ministry of Interior officials, educational institutions, medical and non-medical professionals, lawyers from the National Registry for Legal Assistance, social workers, child protection officers. Awareness-raising campaigns and seminars are planned in order to prevent domestic violence.
A grant of BGN 450,000 per year will be awarded through a competitive procedure for social, psychological and legal counselling, for legal representation and for specialized programmes for the recovery and protection of victims or witnesses of aggression at home, both in counselling centres and in sheltered accommodation.
The state will fund special programmes for social and psychological work with perpetrators of domestic violence to overcome aggression and manage anger.
