The Foreign Policy Committee in the Bulgarian National Assembly (Parliament) on Thursday adopted a draft declaration following statements about Bulgaria made by ruling political factors in North Macedonia.

Committee Chair Boyko Borissov, who leads the GERB party, told journalists that the meeting supported the draft proposed by Vazrazhdane. "After discussing the preamble and the points in the declaration, we reached absolute consensus," Borissov said. According to him, Vazrazhdane agreed to drop points 3 through 7. The Committee made minor corrections to the preamble, and points 1, 2 and 3 were found to be totally consistent with the Good-neighbourliness Treaty between Bulgaria and North Macedonia "and with our strategic plans in the EU," he said.
