The Second Europe & Central Asia Regional Congress of the International Road Federation and the 17th Bulgarian National Transport Infrastructure Conference "Future Roads: Innovate, Invest, Achieve Zero" officially opened at the International Fair Plovdiv on Wednesday.
"Plovdiv is an important industrial, agrarian trade, scientific, educational, cultural and transport-communication centre in the Balkans. The region is an industrial hub and the Trakia Economic Zone is one of the largest projects in the country," said Plovdiv Mayor Kostadin Dimitrov at the opening ceremony.
Presentations, discussions on topical issues and networking meetings in the field of mobility and infrastructure are scheduled until 27 September. Renowned scientists, experts and business organizations will participate and present advanced solutions on important and critical issues related to transport, roads and road safety.
A parallel exhibition will be held to showcase the best innovative companies worldwide. It will be attended by leaders in road construction, for specialized software products, smart road markings, equipment manufacturers and suppliers, design and engineering firms.
The world's leading manufacturer of traffic lights will present an innovative energy-saving traffic light that uses 40 times less energy than a light bulb. Installation of real-time weather monitoring technology from another industry-established company will be demonstrated.
Visitors will also be able to see representatives from the world's only manufacturer of the Road Zipper, a special machine that can reconfigure road lanes in real time by moving and lifting barriers, all with complete security and safety for road users. The largest manufacturer of traffic forecasting software is also participating with its own stand, the fair also said.
According to the organizers, the exhibition promises innovative, cost-effective and promising solutions for the future of mobility and infrastructure.
