Deposits of the non-government sector were BGN 132.890 billion, 67.8% of GDP, at the end of August 2024, increasing annually by 9.1%, the Bulgarian National Bank reported here on Tuesday.
Deposits of non-financial corporations were BGN 44.757 billion or 22.8% of GDP at the end of August 2024. Compared to the same month of 2023, they increased by 6.2%, an 8.9% annual growth in July 2024. Deposits of financial corporations decreased by 16.3% annually in August 2024, a 16.9% annual decline in July 2024. They were BGN 3.502 billion or 1.8% of GDP at the end of the month. Deposits of households and non-profit institutions serving households (NPISHs) were BGN 84.631 billion or 43.2% of GDP at the end of August 2024. They increased by 12.1% compared to the same month of 2023.
At the end of August 2024, claims on loans to the non-government sector amounted to BGN 98.368 billion or 50.2% of GDP compared to BGN 97.507 billion or 49.8% of GDP at the end of July 2024. They increased annually by 14.1% in August 2024, a 13.9% annual growth in July 2024.
Loans to non-financial corporations increased by 9.5% annually in August (8.7% annual growth in July 2024), reaching BGN 46.597 billion or 23.8% of GDP at the end of the month.
Loans to households and NPISHs were BGN 43.741 billion or 22.3% of GDP at the end of August 2024. They increased by 19.7% compared to the same month of 2023, a 19.6% annual growth in July 2024. Loans for house purchases were BGN 23.203 billion, an annual increase of 25.5%.
Consumer loans amounted to BGN 18.769 billion, up 14.7% compared to August 2023.
Loans granted to financial corporations were BGN 8.030 billion at the end of August 2024, equivalent to 4.1% of GDP. Compared to August 2023, they increased by 12.4% or a 16.7% annual growth in July 2024.
