Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) Chair Dzhevdet Chakarov congratulated Bulgarians on Independence Day in a Facebook post and stressed that this act evokes national pride, because it was carried out entirely by the independent efforts of Bulgaria. His post was also shared on the MRF Press Centre page.

"This is also a day on which we pay well-deserved tribute to all those statesmen who won our national and political freedom," Chakarov pointed out.

"Their deeds should be an example for us even today and inspire us in defending the national interests of Bulgaria and for the service of the Motherland," he also wrote.
