Bulgaria's support for Ukraine in the context of the ongoing Russian aggression was the focus of Thursday's meeting of caretaker Foreign Minister Ivan Kondov and Ukranian Ambassador to Bulgaria Olesya Ilashchuk, the Foreign Ministry said. "Our support for Ukraine's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity is unwavering, consistent and will continue for as long as it takes," Kondov said.

The meeting discussed a wide range of topics, including Bulgaria's participation in the International Crimean Platform, the G7+ meeting on energy support for Ukraine, the future Ukraine Peace Summit, the preparation of the Victory Plan, which Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, will present during his upcoming visit to the US, the country's European and Euro-Atlantic integration, and the coordination of Bulgarian assistance to Ukraine, the Foreign Ministry further said.

Kondov stressed that Bulgaria supports Ukraine’s Peace Formula initiated by Zelenskyy and is actively working for the implementation of its points, on which the ministries involved have declared readiness to make a real contribution. Bulgaria will also assist Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic integration by sharing its experience, the Foreign Minister added.

Bulgaria is also strongly committed to the processes of Ukraine's post-war reconstruction and modernization, Kondov said. In this regard, close cooperation in the energy sector, especially in view of the preparations for the coming winter, was also underlined at the meeting. The reconstruction activities in the areas inhabited by the Bulgarian historical diaspora in Ukraine, primarily in the Odesa Region, are also essential for the overall reconstruction of the country, the Ministry added.

Kondov also said he was looking forward to meeting Ukraine's newly appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andrii Sybiha, at the 79th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
