The Tourism Ministry organized a tour for a group of five German journalists to visit emblematic destinations in Southern and Central Bulgaria and familiarize themselves with the country's cultural and natural treasures, the Ministry said on Wednesday.
The tour, which took place between September 8 and 13, included visits to iconic sites such as the Rila Monastery, Sapareva Banya, Belchinski Bani, Staro Zhelezare, Pavel Banya, Hisarya, Kazanlak, Kyustendil, Plovdiv and Sofia. Emphasis was placed on the cultural and historical sights, the unique nature, the opportunities for spa tourism, as well as on the culinary traditions and wine production in the regions.
Among the participants were Fred Hafner from the independent travel portal Reiseblick, Ronald Keusch from the travel blog Keusch-Reisezeiten, the vlogger Klaus-Dieter Viebranz, Marie Wildermann from Diplomatisches Magazin, representatives from Bayerischer Rundfunk and Reisereportagen, as well as Margrit Manz, editor-in-chief of China Report.
"The German market has great potential for development, and such initiatives play a key role in establishing Bulgaria as a reliable and attractive destination," said Tihomir Patarinski, head of the Tourism Department at the Bulgarian Embassy in Berlin.
The tour is part of the Tourism Ministry's year-round communication campaign aimed at promoting Bulgaria as a tourist destination. Similar tours have already been held for media representatives from Romania, Uzbekistan, Poland and Kuwait.
