On this date in Bulgarian history:

1924: Sofia's St Alexander Nevsky Memorial Cathedral is consecrated.

1945: Higher Air Force School is established in Sofia. Moves to Vrazhdebna in 1946, then to Dolna Mitropolia in 1948. 

1947: First international air service, between Sofia and Budapest, is launched. 

1959: Diplomatic relations with Japan, severed on November 6, 1944, are restored. 

1997: Ferry service linking Burgas with Novorossiysk (Russia) and Poti (Georgia) goes into operation.
