Bulgaria defeated Northern Ireland in a League C, Group C3 second-round match of the UEFA Nations League before a crowd of 12,000-plus in the Hristo Botev Stadium here on Sunday.
The only goal came from Kiril Despodov in the 40th minute.
That was the host side's first win in this year's edition of the tournament.
Bulgaria thus leveled with Belarus on 4 points at the top of the group standings. Northern Ireland are third on 3 points, and Luxembourg fourth on 0 points.
