President Rumen Radev Wednesday presented the Order of the Madara Horseman, First Class, to Armenian Ambassador Armen Yedigarian for his contribution to the strengthening and development of relations between Bulgaria and Armenia.

Radev voiced his personal satisfaction with the excellent friendly relations and effective cooperation between Armenia and Bulgaria. During his term of office, Ambassador Yedigarian made consistent efforts to develop bilateral relations despite a number of difficulties imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic and crises of regional and global nature, the Head of State said.

The President noted that during Ambassador Yedigarian's term of office, there has been a serious development in trade and economic relations between the two countries, especially since 2022, when they have grown by more than 50% and this upward trend continues. The launching of an all year long, twice-a-week airline service between Yerevan and Sofia, as well as the protocol on the establishment of a Chamber of Commerce and Economy between Armenia and Bulgaria, are other important steps in the development of bilateral economic relations.

Radev also noted the upgrading of bilateral relations in the fields of culture, education and science. An important memorandum is to be signed in the field of cooperation in high technologies, scientific exchange and research and development, the President also stressed.

Yedigarian expressed his gratitude for the high distinction. In recent years, at the backdrop of acute internal instability in Armenia and political uncertainty in Bulgaria, the two countries have managed to reap success in their dialogue, the Ambassador added, thanking Bulgaria for its hospitality.
