site.btaBulgaria’s Parties Spent BGN 2.35 Million Campaigning for EP
The lack of an active campaign for the European elections is shown by the expenses the parties have made for it. The Institute for Public Environment Development (IPED) analysed the data from the parties' reports to the National Audit Office, which shows that the parties spent a total of BGN 2,350,619 on their election campaigns. Thus, this is almost four times less than the investments of the formations involved in the campaign for the European Parliament in 2019, which then amounted to BGN 10.4 million.
This time, the resources of the parties were mainly directed to media advertising - BGN 1,725,170, and this amount includes the funds from media packages, which the State provides as aid to formations without the right to subsidy. For the European elections, they amounted to BGN 748,103.
Media spending is of major importance in the EP campaign in general. Here, the data shows that for some formations the votes for the European elections had a media cost of about 44 BGN and for others - less than BGN 0.20.
